Driver hurt when garbage-laden rig rolls off Route 4

AUBURN, Maine — A tractor-trailer driver was injured Monday night when his garbage-laden rig went off Route 4 and landed on its side.

Information on his identity was not available late Monday night.

The accident occurred about 7:30 p.m. as the tractor-trailer was headed north near Blanchard Road.

Two Auburn police officers and the Auburn Fire Department responded, and quickly extracted the driver, who was taken to the hospital by United Ambulance.

Much of the load of waste spilled out beside the road.

The accident remained under investigation Monday night.
