Another joke for the city of Rockland. I’m sorry, but I drive by that quarry and golf course every single day and where this tower was going to be located would have had ZERO bearing on anyone’s view. It did not block a view of the water (which cannot be seen from the S curve, it would not have blocked the views of Dodge Mountain (again on the wrong side with ZERO houses around it). Just add this to the many other reasons why Rockland is NOT a good place to live.

Another good attempt for Maine-Open for Business… First Rumford don’t want to close a street for a movie, now, no cell tower…I’m sure the “flagpole” style tower blocks the entire view, NOT! Was the complaint coming from those layed to rest in the two cemeteries? Hey Gov., the State of Maine just keeps moving backward!

Maine is open for business, it just well, rejected, and not welcome.

Exactly…Maine will always be a welfare state..Nothing will ever change..The producers and young will continue to flee…

When you have money like those of rockland, a large percent who are not even Mainers, you can afford the higher priced carriers. It’s their loss so who cares.

Actually, I changed providers last year. I considered USCC but found them quite a bit more expensive that ATT and Verizon. If only Sprint would give me a local number in Bangor I would have gone with them. The old Unicel had great coverage and cheap plans, I was paying 28 bucks a month for one line.

Not sure if you realize, but Rockland is actually one of the more poorer cities/towns in the area. This is due to Rockland being the service center for Knox County which means that the transients, section 8 housing, and other low income housing is located more in Rockland then in the surrounding towns.

  • That stinks…….I wouldn’t mind having excellent signal… they should put some more up in Bangor

The next time you are going through Rockland and wonder why cell service is terrible, remember this article and thank the fools who were more worried about their view from a flagpole style tower, a view that they probably never cared about until this proposal come out. Way to go Rockland, how much more business do you want to drive out?

Everyone wants cell phone service but no one wants cell phone towers, how’s that suppose to work. Oh, I just thought of something, everyone just get a sat phone and don’t look up. You get 5 bars everywhere.
