ROCKLAND, Maine — A 43-year-old Rockport man is being held at the Knox County Jail following his arrest on a charge that he sexually assaulted a young girl.
Erik L. Vultee was arrested Friday and made his initial court appearance Monday afternoon in Rockland District Court on a charge of unlawful sexual contact.
According to an affidavit filed by Maine State Police Detective Jason Andrews to obtain the arrest warrant, the alleged victim — who was 8-to-10-years-old at the time of the incident — reported that Vultee watched her and her sister on numerous occasions. When the girl was at his home, Vultee would tell her to come upstairs and he would show her “dirty movies” and then make her undress and he would assault her.
Vultee threatened to hurt or kill the girl if she reported his actions, the alleged victim told the state police detective according to the affidavit.
The single count that he has been charged with states that the offense occurred in April 2009 in Rockport. The affidavit stated, however, that the assaults continued after that time.
When confronted, Vultee denied the allegations, according to the affidavit.
Bail was set at $2,000 cash. He remained at the jail late Monday.
