SACO, Maine — Saco police are investigating an accident that ended with a Buxton man under arrest for operating under the influence late Wednesday, according to police.

Lincoln Kimball, 23, who suffered minor facial injuries in the crash, was charged with operating under the influence, refusing to sign a criminal summons and operating after suspension, Saco Deputy Chief Jeff Holland said.

Kimball also had outstanding warrants for unauthorized use of property, criminal speeding operating after suspension and failing to report an accident, Holland said. He was arrested on those charges and summoned on the new charges and released on bail.

When officers responded to the scene in the area of 10 Mast Hill Road just after 11 p.m., a telephone pole had been damaged wires were down in the road and Kimball’s 2006 Mercedes was on fire, according to Holland.

The road was shut down for several hours while police and Central Maine Power crews cleaned up the scene. It has since been reopened, according to Holland.

Holland said the accident remains under investigation and Kimball could face further charges. Holland added police aren’t sure what caused the crash.
