UMPI men beat UMFK; Bengal women top Owls

FORT KENT — Patrick Manifold and Claude Louis each connected for a game-high 26 points Wednesday night to carry the University of Maine-Presque Isle to a 71-63 men’s basketball victory over UMaine-Fort Kent.

Louis went 6-for-12 from 3-point range and Manifold grabbed nine rebounds as the Owls improved to 6-4.

Jayson Burke added eight points and four rebounds for UMPI, which shot 48 percent from the floor in the contest.

Yoshives Belizaire paced UMFK (0-9) with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Andre Poux (9 rebounds) and Jorge Matesanz (5 assists) netted 12 points each.

The Bengals shot only 30 percent.

Women’s Basketball

UMFK 62, UMPI 47

At Fort Kent, Erika Christensen powered her way to 19 points and a game-high 27 rebounds along with seven blocked shots to lead the Bengals to victory.

Samantha Carapellucci registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Kayla Richards posted 12 points and Jennifer Colpitts added 10 for 6-4 UMFK.

Doni Yendriga led UMPI (0-6) with 17 points and seven rebounds. Olivia McNally chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.
