AURORA – David W. Varney, 79, husband of Betsey A. (Jordan) Varney, died Dec. 4, 2012, at his home after a long illness. He was born May 7, 1933, in Steuben, son of David and Leola (Richardson) Varney.
David was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked most of his life as a self-employed master electrician and worked several years at Dow Pines, Great Pond, doing maintenance. David was an avid outdoorsman who especially liked hunting and fishing, and he enjoyed playing cards with his friends.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of Aurora are two children, Timothy Varney and wife, Linda of Osborn, and Terry Varney and wife, Kelly, of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Trevor Varney of Osborn, Riley and Kendra Varney, both of Lincoln; one sister, Gladys Anderson and husband, Gilbert, of Bristol, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Arlene Gove.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of David’s life 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Osborn Community Building, Route 179, Osborn.
