HODGDON, Maine — State police are investigating a crash in Hodgdon that sent a local man to a Bangor hospital with internal injuries.

A passing motorist requested help that afternoon after finding Wayne Cofske, 52, of Hodgdon lying in the roadway just before 1 p.m. Tuesday on Hodgdon Mills Road, State Police Sgt. Brian Harris said Wednesday.

Harris said Wednesday that it was apparent that Cofske had been riding his ATV, since it was found nearby.

But the accident remains under investigation because Harris said police are not sure what caused it.

Cofske was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital by a private vehicle.

He was later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment of internal injuries.
