Maine campgrounds, individuals honored by national group

LAS VEGAS — Two Maine campgrounds and two individuals from the Pine Tree State were among those recognized last week during an annual conference of the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds.

In all, 42 campgrounds, RV parks and resorts earned all-around “A” grades in the fourth annual consumer satisfaction survey.

In addition, two Mainers took home prestigious individual awards, according to a press release.

Recognized as “A” grade winners in Maine were Beaver Dam Campground in Berwick, Maine, and Acres of Wildlife Campground in Steep Falls, Maine. The award was the first for Beaver Dam Campground and the fourth for Acres of Wildlife.

According to the press release, more than 30,000 camping and RV enthusiasts participated in the online survey, which evaluated guest experiences at 3,200 campgrounds, parks and resorts that are affiliated with the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds.

In addition, the ARVC recognized the achievements of private park operators, state associations and industry volunteers during the conference.

Herb Strauss of Papoose Pond Resort & Campground in Waterford, Maine, received the Pioneer Award, which recognizes campground industry pioneers.

Lucas Hartford of Lewiston, Maine, received the Supplier of the Year award. Hartford’s company, Evergreen USA, has been a leading provider of campground insurance since 1989, according to the press release.
