BUCKSPORT – Joseph ‘Joe’ Patrick Zdrojowy, 55, died Dec. 3, 2012. He was born in Olean, N.Y., son of Francis Zdrojowy Sr. and Rhoda Moore.
Joe joined the Air Force after high school, where while working in security, he earned a degree in meteorology. He later went on to work at Niagra Falls, and soon moved to Maine to work at the National Weather Service in Caribou. Shortly thereafter Joe earned a second Bachelor’s Degree, this time in electrical engineering. He then worked at WLBZ before going on to co-own a business in the technology and telemedicine industry with his partner and friend, Dan O’Connell. Joe spent many years as an amateur radio operator (NY1S) and enjoyed curling with his friends at the Belfast Curling Club.
Joe is survived by his wife, Beth (Bunker) Zdrojowy; 17-year-old son, Joey; and 11-year-old daughter, Jenny.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Edward Arey Community Building, 1180 River Road, Bucksport. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, contributions may be made to the Joseph P. Zdrojowy Memorial Fund, which is a college fund set up for Joe’s children, and mailed to 31 Bunker Hill Road, Bucksport.
