Ronald Taggett

FORT KENT AND ST. FRANCIS – Ronald Taggett, 81, husband of Patricia “Patsy” Taggett, died Dec. 3, 2012, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born July 8, 1931, in St. Francis, son of the late Frank Taggett and Mathilda (Michaud) Taggett.

Ronald attended school in St. Francis and was a truck driver for 40 years working on construction and for logging companies. Ronald loved to spend time with his family and friends, and enjoyed the simple things in life. He especially enjoyed sitting on his front porch on warm summer days. He also loved gardening, growing big cabbages for his friends and family. Ronald was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus, Council No. 1934 for 48 years in Fort Kent. He was a former vice president of St. Francis Chamber of Commerce. He also served on St. Charles Federal Credit Union and was a member of St. Francis Snowmobile Club.

In addition to his loving wife of 61 years, Ronald is survived by one son, Roland and wife, Judy, of St. Francis; three daughters, Patrice Soucy and husband, “Cur,” of Wallagrass, Pamela Lozier and husband, Bob, and Bev Pelletier and husband, Dave, all of Fort Kent; 11 grandchildren, Jeff Taggett, Greg Taggett, Melissa Soucy Morneault, Becka Soucy Daigle, Bud Soucy, Jonathon, Michelle Lozier, Neile Lozier Martin, Julia Pelletier Gardner, Derrin Pelletier and Andrea Pelletier; and six great-grandchildren, Keagan Chad Cyr, Madison and William Morneault, Tilly Daigle and Rowan Taggett, Ellie Mae Taggett and soon-to-be-born Ava Gail Gardner. He is also survived by four brothers, Carol, Clyde and Dale, all of St. Francis, and Sheldon of Terryville, Conn.; six sisters, Guinda Michaud of Eagle Lake, Monica Berube, Albertine Martin, both of Fort Kent, Gene Jandreau of Madawaska, Annabelle Bourgoin and Lynn West, both of Connecticut. He was predeceased by a brother, Martin Taggett; and sister, Pauline Ouellette.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, and 9-10:15 a.m. Thursday at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial with full fourth degree honors will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at St. Charles Catholic Church, St. Francis. Committal services will be afterward at St. Francis Cemetery.
