Elaine Christine McGuire

CUTLER – Elaine C. (Ackley) McGuire, 78, passed away peacefully Dec. 1, 2012, at her son’s home in Alton. She was born May 26, 1934, in Machias, daughter of the late Clyde and Christine (Henderson) Ackley.
Elaine graduated from Washington Academy, East Machias. She worked at various jobs and eventually settled back in Cutler with her husband, John McGuire. She was a very talented quilter who made many beautiful creations. She also enjoyed reading books, gardening, hunting and fishing.
In addition to her parents, Elaine was predeceased by her husband, John N. McGuire. Elaine is survived by her loving son, Gregory C. Drake and his wife, Pam, of Alton. She was the oldest child and is survived by her brother, Theodore C. Ackley and his wonderful wife, Myrtle, of Meddybemps; brother, Blair H. Ackley; and baby sister, Judith I. Leaf, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Jason, Christie, Jessica and Michael Drake; several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Elaine had many special relationships with friends and neighbors, especially Kevin Feeney and his wife, Debbie, Mark and Marylou McGuire, and good friend “Ginny” McGuire, all of Culter. A special thank you to the staff at New Hope Hospice for their help in the last month of her life.
At Elaine’s request, there will be no formal public funeral services.
