PLYMOUTH AND PITTSFIELD – Thelma Mae Norris, 82, died Dec. 1, 2012, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital, Pittsfield, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 10, 1930, in Stetson, daughter of Earl and Eleanor (Dyer) Batchelder.
Thelma attended Dixmont schools and was affiliated with the North Dixmont Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Post No. 105, Newport.
She is survived by her husband of more than 66 years, Alvin Lewis Norris of Pittsfield; children, Robert Norris and wife, Melissa, of Newport, Glen Norris and wife, Marcella, of Ohatchee, Ala., Beverly Duplisea and husband, Gerald, of Burnham, David Norris and wife, Marianna, of Barefoot Bay, Fla., Richard Norris and wife, Marion, of Pittsfield, and Rachel Robinson of New Rochelle, N.Y.; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and siblings, Bernice Pellotte of Waterville, Thomas Batchelder of Camden, Tenn., Ellery Batchelder of Hermon, Effie Legere of Hartland, Theressa Batchelder of South China, Linda Bishop of Hermon, Alan Batchelder of Winslow, and Blaine Batchelder of Ohio. She was predeceased by her parents; son, Keith Norris; and siblings, Dottie White, Eva Shorey, Darrell Batchelder and Earl Batchelder Jr. The family thanks the Hospice of Eastern Maine and the staff of Sebasticook Valley Hospital for their wonderful care.
