BANGOR – Nellie Freeman Dupont passed away Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, 2012, at Cummings Health Care Facility, Howland. She was born July 23, 1920, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of George Anderson and Nellie Dobson.
Nellie moved with her family to Hallowell when she was 7 years old. She attended school in Hallowell. She was married to her first husband, Edward M. Freeman, in 1938. Together they had seven children. In 1965, she married Alfred J. Dupont. They settled in Bangor and were married for 47 years. Nellie enjoyed spending time with her family and extended family. She also was an avid knitter and crocheter. In the last few years she began painting, which she enjoyed and was so proud of.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Edward M. Freeman; daughter, Grace Tracy; stepson, Robert Freeman; three sisters and two brothers. Nellie is survived by her husband, Alfred Dupont; sons, William Freeman and wife, Shirley, of Georgia, Edward and Mindy of Chelsea, John and Nati of Ohio, and Arthur and Lanelle of Winslow; daughters, Susan Bowie and husband, William, of Howland and Connie Savoie and husband, Henry, of Lowel, Mass.l; and stepchildren, Edward M. Freeman and wife, Joyce, of Whitefield, Kenneth and Dorothy of Whitefield, Helen Trask of Hallowell, Betty Miller and husband, Bruce, of Illinois, and Tom and Beryl of Augusta, all whom she loved as her own. She also has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, too many to list.
There will be no visiting hours. A celebration of her life will be held 12:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at Freeman Hall, Chelsea. Arrangements by Memorial Alternatives, Bangor.
