Police seek suspect in Orono booze theft

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

ORONO, Maine — Police say they are searching for a man who stole a bottle of liquor from a local store on Tuesday evening.

Orono police Detective Derek Dinsmore stated in an email to the Bangor Daily News that the male suspect walked into the Thriftway store around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, took a bottle of alcohol from the liquor aisle and fled the store.

The suspect, who was captured on video surveillance, got into a Honda sedan with New Hampshire plates after leaving the store, according to Dinsmore. The thief was not the driver of the car, Dinsmore added. The vehicle then traveled toward downtown Orono.

The thief is reported to be in his early 20s, has short dark hair and scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans at the time of the theft.

Anyone who has seen the suspect is asked to contact Orono police at 866-4000.
