Comments for: Shifting account of CIA’s Libya talking points fuels Susan Rice controversy

WASHINGTON — When U.S. intelligence officials testified behind closed doors two weeks ago, they were asked point blank whether they had altered the talking points on which U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice based her comments about the Benghazi attacks that have turned into a political firestorm. Director… Read More

Too bad this regime didn’t speak the truth from the beginning. Then they would only have to remember one lie!

      Never has.
      Never will.

A few words of sanity in an otherwise incoherent thread!

      Excellent!

If this was actually about Benghazi – what happened and how to prevent it from happening again – it would be understandable.

But, of course it is not about Benghazi.

What this is about is Republicans who once again are playing partisan politics, trying to block the nomination of a very qualified candidate for political reasons only.

The Republicans would prefer John Kerry get the nod so his Massachusetts Senate seat would be in play. That’s it. Period.

The Republicans, it seems, just don’t get it. It has been demonstrated by the election in which Republicans were SOUNDLY defeated across the board – indisputable evidence that the American people are through with that kind of partisanship. But Republicans refuse to see the light.

And it will be to their detriment.

    • Anonymous

Are you wacky? How is this not about Benghazi? The Obama administration’s hands are filthy throughout this entire debacle.

      • Anonymous

How so? They are investigating talking points, that is it. They are not investigating anything that would do this Nation any good. They are only talking about the admin’s talking points. This will do nothing to help the country. We know what happened, but do you think the GOP cares? No, they want to launch this investigation about talking points. Not about what happened before the attack, you know why decisions were made and things that we can learn from, but things that happened afterwards, that really change nothing. Does it really made when we called it a terrorist attack?

        • Anonymous

nope, it doesn’t matter when we called it a terrorist attack
that doesn’t change the FACT that Obama lied and people died

          • Anonymous

That is wrong on so many accounts. How did anything Obama do and say after the attack cause the deahts? What you are really saying is people died, then obama lied. Nothing he said after the attack caused a time warp to then kill these people. Again, we know what happened. Him telling the truth(assuming you are right and he lied) right after the attack wouldn’t all of a sudden bring these people back.

          • Briney

If the CIA edits a statement concerning a terrorist attack, you either read what they say, or, face the music.

No one lied. To accuse the president of being responsible for the death of four people is asinine.

      • Briney

Susan Rice had nothing to do with the attack – knowledge about it, or, who made it. She is the US Ambassador to the United Nations.

Unfortunately, Hillary asked her to read the statement processed by the CIA with all of its redacted parts – including the one that has Collins, McCain, and Graham in a political spin.

No republican, or supporters of the shipwrecked party, will accept even the CIA’s statement. You have to face it – it’s a dizzy and mortifying teapublican whirlygig.

Rice is the sacrificial lamb so that the teapublicans can pad up the Senate with Scott Brown.

      “SOUNDLY defeated”?

LOL….more like soundly PURCHASED via government largess and patronage

now back to your cage dependent

    …..

This is an embarrassment. And Collins somehow trying to link Al Qaeda attacks in Africa during the 90s to Rice? Just disgusting and obviously political.

We need to strong minority party to argue the opposing side of an issue ON THE MERITS. There are no merits to these kinds of complaints and it’s unfortunate. It’s a complete and total disservice to this country. Like I said, an embarrassment.

It seems that the Democratic and Republican politicians in Washington have once again managed to fool the sheep that make up their parties population with another game of smoke and mirrors in order to take the focus , once again , off of the real problems that plague this once great nation. It appears it is going to be business as usual for the next 4 years. Folks it’s time for term limits of one term , social security retirement , minimum wage and Obamacare for these electees who work for us. Or ……………………you can let them continue to pull your own wool over your eyes !

    • Anonymous

People prefer to pull the wool over their eyes, so long as the checks keep cashing

Once Bambi announces welfare cuts and delayed SS/medicare payments (which is coming very soon) you’ll start to see people pulling the wool back. Of course, they will ignoranty blame republicans, but by then it will be too late. The welfare warfare state will have extracted the wealth of a nation, as intended and on time as planned.

      • Briney

The TeaPublicans prime goal is to kill Medicare and Social Security. Each night you can hear John Boehner and Mitch McConnell re-assert their goal whilst keeping the Bush tax cuts in place for the ultra wealthy.

  • Anonymous

Hillary Clinton should go home to Bill..
    Obama should go to jail.
    Susan Rice should just go.

The Benghazi coverup continues while a media drugged populace waits for the next dancing with the stars.

    • Cecil Gray

And you should remain front and center as irrelevant in the discussion so the GOP will remain in the L column.

      • Anonymous

The only folks in the L column are the destitue masses that will lay in the wake of the progressive wealth transfer mechanism that is currently being implemented to perfection……your words are living proof of its effectiveness, not only do you not understand what is happening, you are literally cheering them on as they rob you and your family blind

        • Anonymous

          Well said!

    • Anonymous

For the good of the country, it’s time to fetch a butterfly net for McCain. At a moment when the Middle East is on fire, you have a United States Senator threatening to hold our State Department hostage for no coherent reasons other than to exercise his temper and to satisfy his insatiable desire for television coverage.

      • Anonymous

i THINK HE SHOULD REENLIST AND GO TO sYRIA, JUST LIKE HE WANTS OUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS TO.

        • Anonymous

Oh please…..Bambi is going to get your sons and daughters involved just like his nationalist progressive idols Lincoln, Wilson, Roosevelt, Truman, and Johnson did to hundreds of thousands of other young Americans

if you seriously think having a D in the WH will protect you from useless wars, you haven’t paid much attention to history

          • Anonymous

Spin on and on. Can you rread or is it comprehension? McCain is a warmonger. He is still trying to make up for Nam where he went against orders.

          • Briney

We have a man in the White House who voted against going to war in Iraq. We had JFK who was assassinated not long after trying to stop the Vietnam War. As for WWI and WWII – it was a case of either them – or, us.

      • Anonymous

He (McCain) is very impulsive. He does not come across as a very deliberative person; rather, more reactive. He still has not gotten over losing in 2008 . He is still pouting and trying to get some kind of “vindication.”

    • Anonymous

What cover up? They are only talking about talking points. They know now what happened. They are only investigating the Admin talking point. Nothing else. This literary does nothing to help anyone. Nothing. We will learn nothing, and get nothing out of this investigation. How does calling it a terror attack right after or 14 days after change anything? Do the family all of a sudden feel great know they died in a terror attack? What they should be investigating is what went down BEFORE the attack, not talking points afterwards.

      • Anonymous

You say “talking points” I say “lies”.

        • Anonymous

What lies? The information was coming out, It all came out in 14 days. There was no promoting from anyone.

    • Guest

There is no coverup. This is nothing more than a stunt the GOP pulls when they don’t get their own way.

    • Briney

The story explicitly cites a CIA director stating that the CIA altered or redacted references to a terrorist attack. It was this pamphlet that Susan Rice US Ambassador to the UN was asked to read and pass on to the general public on the Sunday talk shows.

How can a UN Ambassador be charged with the Benghazi attack. Only John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Susan Collins know how to ruin her career whilst strengthening the GOP in the Senate. Perhaps they need to level with the American public.

There is nothing worse than a poor loser. The GOP has a bunch of ’em.

      • Anonymous

The losers here were the three murdered in Benghazi while the White House watched on realtime video.
Rice, at the time was expendable. She almost pulled it off, though, and now is being rewarded for her heroic efforts to shield this sad excuse for a president that we will have to endure for another four years.

If the country lasts that long !

        • Briney

You’d make a good sidekick for Hannity.

  • BigPaw

Apparently, the GOP has decided to go down with the ship, and will continue to arrange deck chairs on their way !

    • Anonymous

LOL….moving the dems around in their deck chairs will do nothing to save the sinking titanic that IS the United States government and its counterfeit fiat paper currency

  • Anonymous

Wouldn’t it be something if the wacky wing nuts got so excited when someone shot up a theater or school. But they don’t and they will prove they will stop at nothing to disguise their ultimate objective of acquiring what they want …. a senate seat. Country be damned, voters be damned, when they trump up something by jesus there is no end to the BS they are willing to foist on US.

  • Anonymous

So now this is a witch hunt? You libbers are pathetic. Remember Valery Plane? You wanted to hang Bush or Cheney for NOTHING. Now this community organizer is lying and his people are lying, they left Americans to die with NO HELP and you call this a witch hunt? You people are hypocrites and deserve this guy as your president.

    • Anonymous

What lies? A simple search will tell me exactly what happened that day. As new information came out the white house gave updates. This investigation is nothing more then about talking points that happened right after. We knew this was a terrorist attack well before the GOP started to investigate. The whole reason they are investigating is because we said it was one thing then another. There was no lying what so ever. They provided updates the whole way. Might not have been timely but they were there.

    • Briney

The election is over. The job for all those re-elected or newly sworn in is to control the deficit, improve the economy, and take care of the veterans who served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. As for entitlements – they deserve everything we have.

Bush lied about WMD in Iraq. Or, had faulty intelligence? So what? Nobody, including McCain, Graham and Susan Collins were one bit concerned.

  • Anonymous

If only the commissars of the GOP Benghazi Inquisition had been as keen to ferret out George W. Bush’s inattention to his own intel briefs in the run-up to 9/11. Benghazi was a mess- no one denies that- but by no sane (that is to say, non-republican) stretch of the imagination do the political events surrounding it rise to even an approximation of what Cheney and the neo-cons pulled after September 11. Not even close.

    • Anonymous

the two wars started by the neocons after 911 BOTH had bipartisan congressional suport in the war authorization process

at least the neocons actually went to congress…..the left in this country give the progressive war mongers a free pass on everything, hence thousands dead in WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Korea, and now some more in Libya…..next stop Syria, where the left-sanctioned human carnage will do doubt continue unabated

Is it any wonder the muslims hate us when we insist on forcing our debt laden progressive system of central banking down the throats of a people who have a religous objection to usury
DC, along with all the Rs and Ds needs to burn

  • Briney

Not even the CIA can convince Graham and McCain that it was the CIA who changed the release.

Not even the Pope could convince these two either. Graham and McCain are hell bent on scuttling Rice’s nomination – if she gets it – as next Secretary of State.

Everyone knows why. The GOP is ready to back John Kerry for the post, so they can shoe horn Scott Brown into Kerry’s seat. Our own Susan Collins is on the Graham – McCain bandwagon with this snatch of political skulduggery.

Maneuvers like this are evidence of the only transparency the GOP has. Graham, Collins, and McCain are so thin – you can see right through them.

I really had faith that America would get the presidential election right this time … Sadly I was wrong. I really don’t know how anybody could vote for 4 more years of lies, deception, and outright disdain for our constitution. Fast and Furious, Libya, Benghazi,Obamacare, amnesty for Illegals etc …. I am still In shock :(
