BDN Maine announces upgrade to apps

By Shelley Sund

The Bangor Daily News is pleased to announce an upgrade to our current apps for iOS and Android devices. Beginning today, our BDN Maine app will be available free for download in iTunes Store and Google Play. Our most recent changes to our tablet presence will make your experience much better, including a new scrolling navigational bar atop the iPad app pages, brighter home screen, larger images, easy navigation, weather access and featured story lists.

All apps will include a new weather page with up-to-the-minute updates  in your area, hourly forecasts and a look at the week ahead, plus live satellite and radar.  Also, once you open our app, you might notice a message asking you to share your location with us. This will display your local weather in the top right corner of every page. If not, you always can set your location manually using the settings tool.

See a larger display of images on our new photos tab.  Enjoy daily images in thumbnails, then swipe for a brightly displayed slide show that is easy to navigate. There is also a font size adjustment that can be made in our story pages with enhanced sharing tools for email, Facebook and Twitter.
The Bangor Daily News’ mobile apps keep you connected by providing the latest news, politics, sports, living, outdoors, business and obituaries from the Portland area and around the state.  Download our new BDN Maine apps today!
