AUGUSTA, Maine — The final vote recount of the 2012 election season Monday confirmed a victory for Republican Frederick Trask of Milo in a tight race for a Piscataquis County commissioner seat.

Trask prevailed over Democrat Donald Crossman of Milo by 11 votes to be re-elected as the county commissioner for District 3, which includes Atkinson, Bowerbank, Brownville, Lake View Plantation, Medford, Milo and Sebec. Trask led Crossman in the final vote tally 1,282 to 1,271.

Following the Nov. 6 election, just 10 votes separated the two candidates.

The Trask-Crossman recount was the last of 13 recounts state election officials conducted this month to settle tight contests. It was the only one requested for a non-legislative race.

Election officials conducted recounts in 10 close House races and two close Senate races. One additional recount was scheduled for Monday to settle a Damariscotta-area House contest, but the trailing candidate, Republican Alan Pinkham of Damariscotta, withdrew his recount request.

None of the 13 recounts conducted changed a race’s outcome.
