Rita L. McMahon


MILLINOCKET – Rita L. McMahon, 85, wife of the late Francis McMahon, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at a local hospital. She was born Nov. 19, 1927, in Millinocket, daughter of Bruno and Marie (Madore) Angotti.
Rita was a wonderful and caring woman that helped raise her brothers and sisters, as well as her grandchildren. She loved to cook and was a wonderful mother. Rita enjoyed her family, friends and outings at their camp on South Twin Lake, especially the Fourth of July family reunions she held every year. Rita also was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 80 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary No. 4154.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Geraldine Wyman and fiance, Eugene LaBelle; grandson, Justin Wyman and Shana Snyder; granddaughter, Jessica Sherwood and husband, Tim; great-grandchildren, Alexys and Trenton Sherwood, and Mark Del Pozo; sisters, Beverly Luke, Joan Hetherington and husband, Roland, Jean Macri and husband, Dominic, and Brenda Brunette; brothers, Frank Angotti and wife, Anita, Bernard Angotti and wife, Brenda, and Robert Angotti and wife, Linda; many, many nieces and nephews; special nephew, Glen Hetherington; and special niece, Barbara Rust. The family thanks the nurses at Millinocket Regional Hospital, especially Jamie and Diane. A special thank you goes to Katahdin Area Support Group and Veronica of Catholic Charities.
Friends may visit with the family 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. Interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Rita may be sent to Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462.
