Emma Hodgkins

MILBRIDGE – Emma (Chipman) Hodgkins, 88, passed away peacefully Nov. 19, 2012, at Narraguagus Bay Healthcare Facility. She was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Milbridge, daughter of Sidney and Vera (Beal) Chipman.
Emma was an employee of Red Barn Motel for many years. She enjoyed bingo and crossword puzzles, but her talent and favorite pastime was crocheting beautiful afghans, doilies, tablecloths and Christmas ornaments that her family cherishes to this day. She will be deeply missed by her devoted and loving daughter, Helen Ray.
Emma was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Jesse Hodgkins; her daughter, Judith Mae; and her brother, Roland. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Ray and her husband, Rooney, of Milbridge; her sister, Lila (Chipman) Hall of Cape Cod, Mass.; grandchildren, Kim Sovis and her husband, Bill, of Port Charlotte, Fla., Michael Ray and his wife, Michelle, of Bangor, Melissa Nelson and her husband, Dave, of Stoughton, Mass., Kelly Mellott of Frederick, Md., and Stacy Bradbury and her husband, Donnie, of Milbridge; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family extends a sincere thanks to the kind staff at Narraguagus Bay Healthcare Facility for the excellent care and compassion she received there.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge. A committal service will be afterward at Evergreen Cemetery, Milbridge. Arrangements by Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge.
