WINTERVILLE, Maine — An Eagle Lake man escaped serious injury after his vehicle careened off the road and struck a tree on Thursday.

Maine State Police Trooper Brian Harris said Thursday that the crash took place just after 8 a.m.

Trooper Chris Cyr, who investigated the Red River Road accident, reported that Michael Boutot, 47, was northbound in his 2001 Pontiac when he failed to negotiate a curve and his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

Boutot was taken by ambulance to Northern Maine Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

The vehicle had significant damage and was towed from the accident site, police said.
