BAR HARBOR – Joanna G. Herrick, 77, died Nov. 20, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Aug. 23, 1935, in Norwich, Conn., the daughter of Leonard John and Cecilia (Miskiawitch) Garstka.
Joanna will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid seamstress and scrapbooker. She was a faithful and very active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Bar Harbor, where she served on the church council for many years and was director of religious education. She was also a member of Acadia Handbell Choir and Preceptor Psi Society, Bar Harbor. Joanna’s life was her church and family.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Charles A. Herrick; one son, Alan Herrick and his wife, Jenny, of Redwood Shores, Calif.; three daughters, Laurie Crisafi of Somers, Conn., Karen Lendvay and husband, Jim, of Coventry, Conn., and Jennifer Vesci and husband, Tom, of Newington, Conn.; one sister, Rusty Graska of Vacaville, Calif.; six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Mount Desert Street, Bar Harbor, with Father John O’Hara, celebrant.
