Bangor Police officer Steve Pellitier inspects the contents of a jacket at the scene of a car crash on North High Street in Bangor as Bangor Fire Department personnel stand by. The Jeep Cherokee driven by a male subject came to rest against a power pole, splintering it, after just missing a second pole on the opposite side of the street. A man and child were removed from the car.
BANGOR, Maine — A man with a child in the back seat of his Jeep Cherokee crashed his vehicle into a utility pole early Tuesday morning, according to police.
The pole was next to 40 High St., according to Bangor police Officer Steve Pelletier.
Pelletier said it’s unclear whether the driver, whose identity was not immediately released, was intoxicated.
“It’s too early to tell about impairment,” the officer said.
The man and the child, whose gender and age weren’t released, were taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment. Pelletier was en route to the hospital to interview the driver.
