STOCKTON SPRINGS, Maine — State police released no new information Monday on the fatal shooting of a man at a residence on Route 1 on Saturday.

Maine State Police spokesman Stephen McCausland said he expected no developments Monday.

“There’s more work to do. Unless there’s something from the medical examiner, there will be no new developments today,” he said. “We need to determine exactly what happened Saturday morning.”

The medical examiner’s office did not release any information Monday.

In earlier statements, McCausland reported that David Linscott of Brooks was shot at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the front yard of a house owned by 36-year-old Robert Tucker. Linscott died of a single gunshot wound at the scene, police said.

McCausland said Tucker shot Linscott, 31, after a confrontation. At least one other man was with Linscott at the time of the shooting, McCausland said, but declined to provide other details. No one has been charged in the death.

The rear window of a Toyota Camry parked at the house was observed broken on Saturday, and on Monday afternoon, what appeared to be a camping tent was laid across the vehicle. A man answering the door at the residence at 626 Route 1 said he had no comment and told a reporter to leave the property immediately.

The small house at the intersection of Stagecoach Road is adjacent to the Rocky Ridge Motel near Sandy Point, where rooms are rented by the week.
