Intoxicated man removed from Shaw’s deli, police say

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — A local transient was arrested Sunday when he returned to Shaw’s after having been given a written trespassing warning by the Main Street supermarket, police said.

Store personnel had warned an intoxicated Michael Gagnon, 34, to stay away from the property, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said.

An hour after the warning was issued, Gagnon was found lying on the floor of the deli at the supermarket, the sergeant said.

Police arrested Gagnon and charged him with criminal trespass, Edwards said.

According to Bangor Daily News archives, Gagnon was arrested in 2005 for theft at the Hannaford supermarket on Union Street.

Gagnon remained at the Penobscot County Jail on Monday.
