ORIENT, Maine — An Orient man is at a Boston hospital in critical condition Monday morning after a Sunday evening single-vehicle accident on Number 9 Road about two miles from where it intersects with U.S. Route 1.
Micah Bartlett, 46, suffered burns to 70 percent of his body and was first taken by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor and subsequently transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital, according to a release from Sgt. John Cote of the Maine State Police Troop F.
Bartlett was found near the roadway and outside of his 2007 Chevrolet 1500 pickup which was fully engulfed in flames by passerby Timothy McKissick, no age or residence given, around 7:35 p.m., according to the release.
Bartlett had been traveling east on Number 9 Road when his truck went off the road on a sharp corner, rolled, struck some trees and caught fire, according to the information provided.
The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Jared Sylvia who was assisted at the scene by Trooper Timothy Saucier, Trooper Nicholas Casavant, Northern Washington/Southern Aroostook Ambulance Service and the Danforth Fire Department.
