SEARSPORT – Leroy F. “Roddy” Moody Sr., 86, died Thursday Nov. 15, 2012 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born Nov. 22, 1925, in Searsport, son of Frank and Edna (Brockway) Moody.
He graduated from Searsport High School in 1943, worked for Knox Brothers Fuel, and was a member of Searsport Lion’s Club. He started the Searsport Chapter of Boy Scouts, Troop 215 in 1947 and had more than 60 years of service with the scouts. He was a member of Searsport United Methodist Church. Roddy enjoyed hunting and fishing, his camp at Gassabias Lake was one of his favorite places.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Marguerite (Bradley) Moody; two sons, Leroy F. “Rod” Moody Jr. of Windham and Dana G. Moody and wife, Darci, of Searsport; grandchildren, Tracey Lydon and husband, Chris, of So. Portland, Patrick Moody and wife, Sherma, of Windham, Josh Moody of Searsport, and Dory Larrabee of New York City; great-grandchildren, Hayleigh Moody and A.J. Moody, both of Windham; one sister-in-law, Ethel Moody of Bar Harbor; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Roddy was predeceased by one daughter-in-law, Kathy Moody. The family wishes to extend special thanks to niece, Nancy and husband, Dick Schroeder, of Swanville for all their loving kindness.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Searsport United Methodist Church, Main Street, Searsport, with Pastor Steve Macleod officiating. Memorial contributions in Roddy’s memory may be made to Searsport United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 169, Searsport, ME, Searsport Lion’s Club, P.O.
