Mabel H. Blanchard

BRUNSWICK – Mabel H. Blanchard, wife of the late Norman H. Blanchard, died peacefully Nov. 12, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born April 21, 1920, in Worcester, Mass., daughter of John Allan and Pearl von Sotta Hagerstrom.
She attended schools in Massachusetts and Maine. Mabel graduated from Farmington High School in 1938. She married Norman Blanchard on November 30, 1939. Mabel worked in the probate court in Franklin County. She served as church treasurer and ran the Sunday school at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Winn. She served on Winn School Board and PTA; was a member of the hospital auxiliary at Penobscot Valley Hospital; and served as ballot clerk in Winn. She was a member of Lee Literary Club. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and camping all throughout Canada, Alaska and the lower U.S. We will miss her.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Mildred Bird; and brother-in-law, Bert Blanchard. Surviving her are four daughters, Olivia and husband, David Williamson, of Woolwich, Pamela and husband, Terrence Williamson, of Hampden, Meridel and husband, Richard Cosgrove, of West Bath, and Susan and husband, Walter Kimball Sr., of West Bath; sister, Alice and husband, Robert Parlin; brother, John and wife, Louise Hagerstrom; sister-in-law, Beula and husband, Don Green; nine grandchildren, Michael Williamson, Jennifer Maconochie, David Margas, Stephan Margas, Dianne Strait, Amanda Kimball, Walter Kimball III, Richard Cosgrove Jr. and Tamara Hegele; and 16 great-grandchildren.
There will be no services per Mabel’s request. Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
