BROWNVILLE – James E. Jenkins Sr., beloved husband of Carla J. (Moore) Jenkins, died Nov. 12, 2012, at his home. He was born Aug. 30, 1942, in Brownville, son of Donald E. and Janie A. (McGrath) Jenkins.
Jim had worked as a truck driver for Paul N. Foulkes, Inc. for more 50 years. He was a volunteer for Brownville Fire Department. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and four-wheeling, and especially revving up his pick-up truck. Time spent at Ebeemee Pond was particularly important to him, as was time spent fishing with Duane; and granddaughter, Janie. Jim’s work ethic and values in life, despite the adversities he faced every day, were an inspiration to all who knew him. He was very proud that he had taught his granddaughter, Reigh-Reigh, how to use her voice.
Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Carla of Brownville; son, James E. Jenkins Jr. and companion, Brenda Lowell, of Massachusetts; daughter, LeeAnn Jenkins and fiance, Duane Heal, of Bowdoinham; sister, Sandra Perkins and husband, Arthur, of Dover-Foxcroft; five grandchildren, Katrina and husband, Chris, Colleen, Janie, Reighann, and Henry; nephew, Clifton Perkins and wife, Susan, of Massachusetts; niece, Dorrinda Perkins and companion, Kevin Wagner, of Florida; and several cousins. He will be missed by his pets, Brody James, Moose and Mindy Lynn. The immediate family thanks Sandra and Arthur for their love and support, and for being Jim’s personal chauffeurs through his courageous battle with his illness.
A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Brownville Community Church with the Rev. Ann Purdy officiating. Friends and family are invited to share fellowship and stories after the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to PAWS, 39 Clinton St., Milo, ME 04463.
