BANGOR, Maine — Two women were taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries they suffered Sunday night when they were struck by a van while crossing Hogan Road.

The names of the two women, believed to be Canadian, were not immediately available, Bangor Police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Sunday night. He said the two were struck by a van driven by an elderly man, whose name also was not available.

Edwards said both women were taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center and that an accident reconstruction specialist from the Orono Police Department has been called to the scene.

According to Edwards, the accident happened about 6 p.m. on the section of Hogan Road that includes the Olive Garden on one side and the Quality Inn on the opposite side.
