Fantastic. That smear campaign didn’t work. Those flyers made great fire starter for the stove.
    Congrats Colleen!

    • I’m sure Martin will thank the Maine GOP for sabotaging his campaign. The Maine GOP desperately needs new leaders. Leaders with integrity.

And intelligence, and common sense, and …

They should keep the ones they’ve got – they’ve done them so much good, after all. As for the party, will Mr. Charlie keep his keys to the office?

    • Anonymous

how was it a smear campaign when all they did was report exactly what she wrote when she was online?  nothing was made up.

      • Deb Ovall

The Maine GOP TRIED to turn it into a smear campaign, they THOUGHT they were going to smear her and it back-fired, per usual.  The GOP overall is SO out of touch with the world today, they really need to get a grip.  :)

        • Anonymous

So people voted for her out of spite?

      • They expected people to believe that this lady was literally going to hunt down Grover Norquist and drown him in a bath tub. They were suggesting she was “violent”. Not only ridiculous, but completely devoid of humor. I found the Norquist quip rather humorous.

obviously not and i never send it did.  it’s pretty clear you vote with your heart and not your brain, or lack there of.

Don’t forget to loot your epics….

I loved this election. Proves you have to campaign on substance, not cheap shots or lies.

    • Anonymous

      Hehe *cheap shot*.

Now she can *kick* them while they’re down.

      Hehe.

    • Anonymous

And her win was proof that Mainers, for the most part, are thinking, intelligent beings who are quite capable of seeing through the  right wing religious craziness that was at the heart of the GOP nonsense.

      • but obviously not the left wing craziness of someone who is a regular to the DailyKos.

    • Anonymous

Who campaigned on substance? Do not be so arrogant to try and make it sound that the Democrats campaigned purely on substance. Calling Mitt Romney a felon and murderer, misrepresenting Romney’s position on the auto bailout. Distorting a man’s record to deflect from the fact that Obama really does not have anything to call his own other than Obamacare, a poor economy and energy cost that are dragging down the average American. Get real.

      • Anonymous

It’s kind of stupid to characterize what a private citizen says about a candidate as part of the campaign.

        • Anonymous

The comments were made by some of the Obama represenatives and suragates. Not all the campaigning is done by the candidate at a campaign rally or during a Presidential debate. If it was a conservative represenative you would make it out to be dirty campaigning and that of course would be ok.

          • Anonymous

            No, they weren’t. Quit lying.

          • Anonymous

I am glad that these comments are made in this thread concerning the “fantasy world” that this candidate enjoys in the gaming world, because you are in a fantasy world of your own. That is ok, we will see how this next four years plays out. The fantasy that everything is alright and will only get better under the “leadership” of your freshly elected messiah, will not play out as all that supported him thinks it will. Unemployment, government dependence and huge deficits will only increase under this President.

          • Anonymous

Calling him messiah reveals your hand. It tells me that you get your information from fringe right sources — no credible news source or person refers to him as a messiah.

But I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt, give me some quotes from these representatives and surrogates. Can you back up the garbage you’re posting?

          • Anonymous

Stephanie Cutter who is President Obama’s Deputy Campaign Manager, in July 2012 said that Romney was a felon and she said as a spokesperson for the Obama campaign the campaign has no problem with the Priorities USA advertisement (August 2012) that claims that Romney was responsible for the death of a lady in Kansas that died of cancer because her husband lost his job and his health insurance when the business that he worked at was closed which was either owned or funded by Bain Capitol. In fact Romney had left Bain two years before this gentleman lost his job. Even if Romney was still at Bain, calling him a muderer because of this women’s tragic death is unconsionable. A fact that Johnathan Lavine who is a major Obama fundraiser was a Managing Director at Bain Capitol when the layoffs at GST Steel occured and cost this man his job seems to be left out of the story. I am sure that you of course will claim that this is all a lie, because that is what you do.

          • Anonymous

She didn’t say that. You’re lying. Give me quotes, not your wild and distorted version of the truth.

          • Anonymous

            From TownHall.com

“Deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter laid out the issue as the Obama team sees it: “Either Mitt Romney, through his own words and his own signature, was misrepresenting his position at Bain to the SEC, which is a felony. Or,” she said, “he was misrepresenting his position at Bain to the American people to avoid responsibility for some of the consequences of his investments,” including layoffs and the outsourcing of jobs.”

Romney campaign represenative Matt Rhodes responded

“President Obama’s campaign hit a new low today when one of its senior advisers made a reckless and unsubstantiated charge to reporters about Mitt Romney that was so over the top that it calls into question the integrity of their entire campaign,” Rhoades said. “President Obama ought to apologize for the out-of-control behavior of his staff, which demeans the office he holds. Campaigns are supposed to be hard fought, but statements like those made by Stephanie Cutter belittle the process and the candidate on whose behalf she works.”

          • Anonymous

So, she didn’t accuse him of anything or call him a felon, as you said she did. That makes you a liar.

          • Anonymous

As I can’t respond directly to your comment below as the reply button is not showing, I will respond to this comment. In political speak she was calling him a felon by making the accusation in such a public forum as she did. If you so carelessly make the accusation that I am a liar you should review your own posts and many quotes from your President. If a Republican had made such a comment the entire liberal world would be up in arms and calling for congressional hearings on the matter and saying that Romney should apologize for his staffers comments.

          • Anonymous

No, don’t put words in her mouth simply because you don’t like her. You lied. Period. She didn’t accuse anyone of anything. You can keep whining “if a Republican did this” blah blah and pointing your finger elsewhere, but it doesn’t change the fact that you’ve been lying all day long. And now you’re trying to act like it’s someone else’s fault that you have been lying. Have some personal responsibility.

“I am not somebody who promotes same-sex marriage.”

“No Earmarks in the $787 Billion Stimulus”

“Cut Deficit in Half by end of first term”

“When a bill lands on my Desk, The American people will have 5 days to
review it before I sign it.”

All attributed to Barack Obama, and the list goes on and on.

          • Tyke

She truthfully said that falsifying legal filings was a felony. Romney signed papers claiming to be the Chief Executive Officer of Bain, then later said he was not at all involved during that period. One of those times he lied. If it was in the official filing that he filed then he committed a felony.

She told the truth and never said that Romney was a felon.

      • Anonymous

When did Lachowicz call Romney “a felon and murderer”, how did she misrepresent “Romney’s position on the auto bailout”?

you will be surprized how many people do online gaming

    • Anonymous

Obviously both liberals and conservatives play online games. But this lady has used her gaming as a venue to post violent and radical commentary. It’s really very frightening. You should read some of her diatribes….

      • Anonymous

I read them.  They sound like roleplaying in an MMORPG.  The frightening thing is the attempt to paint fantasy as reality – it seems to be the modus operandi of the right wing.   If it is acceptable for Grover Norquist to say he wants to drown the government in a bathtub, it is OK for a make-believe Orc rogue to say what she said.  It is obvious to most people that she was “playing a part” for entertainment and not really advocating the violence.   What is not obvious to many people is that people like Limbaugh   are also “playing a part” but not for entertainment purposes . . .

what no faction buff for being human? thought that was a 5% buff…… gotta put in a  gm ticket

      • Anonymous

Faction buff for humans is called, “Every man for himself” and removes movement impairments!

        •  Ironically, that trait sounds like one a Republican would have.  Plus, technically she plays an orc.

          • Anonymous

Orcs have a buff to be able to fend off a stunning blow.

          •  You sir or madam win an internet today.

      •  Pretty sure that the faction buff got replaced a couple of expansions ago.

Which one?  I know the human buff is still there.  Checked on Orc buff, but could be wrong.  a lot was changed with Mists of Pandaria.

Guess the video game slam shows how desperate the Rs were.

    • Matthew Desmond

No, they were not desperate.  It was legitimately pointing out: “Do you want someone who makes comments like this being your elected official?”  Comments like: “So I’m a level 68 orc rogue girl. That means I stab things…a lot … Who would have thought that a peace-lovin’, social worker and democrat would enjoy that?!”  And: “We’re progressive…in fact we joke about being a socialist guild.”  No thanks!

  • Anonymous

The Republicans are really good at pissing off large demographics. More then half the population plays video games. There was no way this nonsense was going to work, it just revealed how pathetic they are.

    • Anonymous

The website wasn’t to draw attention to the fact that she plays video games– it was to expose the radical, VIOLENT commentary she has expressed while playing video games!

      • Anonymous

IT IS A VIDEO GAME!  It’s fantasy, a way that some blow off steam.

Some people blow off steam playing sports.  Some venture into the woods to KILL wildlife for sport (not many do it for food anymore) etc…

I know some online gamers, and some who play WOW and other games.  They are actually some of the smarter people that I know and well balanced.

But I see the campaign worked on you.  The typical “try to scare the crap out of people so that they’ll vote for you” that the GOP loves so much.

      • Semipermeable

Clearly you have never played multiplayer videogames. Even minecraft can get pissy

About 25 years ago, WLBZ sent reporters out to Eastern Washington County to cover a series of arsons in Lubec.  One resident mentioned that there was a group in town playing Dungeons and Dragons, and that they wore all black and were probably satanic. I was a leader of a local youth group and a foster parent at the time so someone gave the reporter my name as a person who would know about this game.  They came to the house and asked if I knew the youngsters playing this game, and I did.  They asked me how I knew them, and I told them because I also played D&D and some of those youngsters were my foster children.  The reporters left in a hurry, and altouugh I watched LBZ news for the next week, I never saw the story.
