Comments for: How gay marriage finally won at the polls

A great day to be a Mainah!

  • Anonymous

It takes a lot of work, but ultimately, the true wins out. It’s very easy to disprove all the hateful and disgusting lies about gay people — all you have to do is meet one of them and you realize they’re exactly like the rest of us.

    • Anonymous

      Nicely put.

    • Have you heard about, probably not because the Maine papers are choosing to ignore it, the Gorham School District inviting gay group to make a presentation to 8th graders, it included a part about gay foreplay and using saran wrap.  The liberal media in Maine is so proud of their gay support that you would think they would be putting this story on the front page.

      http://radio.foxnews.com/toddstarnes/top-stories/school-children-taught-about-gay-foreplay.html

      • Anonymous

Using a dental dam isn’t gay sex or gay foreplay though. Do heterosexuals not engage in oral sex? I was being taught about safe sex in 6th grade in a Maine school.

        •  I’m sure heterosexuals do but we don’t teach our kids how to do it.

Sex education of ANY kind does not belong in the schools, they can’t even teach the kids to read and write, why would we trust them to teach them about sex.  And before you use the old argument that the schools teach our kids because the parents don’t and it reduces teenage pregnancy, don’t bother, it’s total BS.

          • Anonymous

In health class I was taught what a dental dam is in middle school and how it is used.

Your claim is what is BS though. Just look at the rates of the states that have abstinence only sex education — they have the highest teen pregnancy rates in the country.

          • This Charming Man

You’re making a public school sex ed issue a gay marriage issue.

Have a little integrity.  Your hate filled side lost, nobody cares what you think, and your lies are going to catch up with you sooner or later.

And if you’re in your 50’s and don;t know what a dental dam is, well, talk about a sheltered life, you are hardly someone who’s opinion I want to take precedence over a public educator entrusted with properly informing my kids.

Take your dogmatism and hysteria to church, where it belongs; we don’t want to hear it.

          • Charming!

Actually I’ve tried to fair in saying that I don’t think any sex ed should be in the schools but liberals can’t grasp the idea of fairness.

        •  I’m 59 years old and have lived a good life without ever knowing what the he!! a dental dam is, why should my children know what it is?

I reiterate, sex ed does not belong in the schools.

          • Anonymous

Well I can assure you that dental dams are already being demonstrated in health classes in Maine. They’re used by heterosexuals and homosexuals alike. No need to place all the blame at the feet of gays for safe sex tools.

          •  So the schools are teaching kids about sex toys?  It just keeps getting better and better!

          • Anonymous

A dental dam isn’t a sex toy. It’s for oral sex to block transmitting STIs.

      • Anonymous

When did this occur? The article doesn’t say but I doubt that it had anything to do with the SSM vote.

If you do not want something taught in your school get involved at the level where those decisions are made….at your local school board.

        •  I believe the article stated two weeks before the election, go re read it.

      • Anonymous

Huh?  Sounds like a urban/Faux News myth.

  • Anonymous

Bishop Malone should expend more tears on the pedophile priests that the Catholic Church has allowed to hurt children than on the passage of the gay marriage law.

  • Anonymous

Great to send that carbetbagger and purveyor of decpetion Shubert packing.

  • Anonymous

The campaign to pass a law mandating a LGBT curriculum in schools will start next year….

    • This Charming Man

Give it up, nobody believes losers lies anymore !

      • Margaret Rudolf

Satan lost and was thrown out of heaven. His followers are all losers.

        • Tedlick Badkey

Pssst… “satan” has nothing to do with our civil law structure.

        • Anonymous

He also Killed about 10 Million less people then God has.

        • Anonymous

So gays and lesbians are followers of satan?

Gee, with such reasonable arguments, it’s amazing you lost this.

    • Margaret Rudolf

And the persecution of Christians will begin in earnest. We will fight to keep our children from falling into thinking legal is the same thing as right. Christians will pray for the gays with love, but will continue to hate the sin of living the gay lifestyle.

      • Anonymous

         Very true.

      • Tedlick Badkey

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAA!!!

      • Anonymous

I understand praying for sinners, as the Faithful should.  I *don’t* understand hating the sin.  Does God/Jesus/(name a deity) say followers should hate it or to simply not engage in it?

      • Anonymous

Why don’t you figure out how not to live a life of sin, then you can judge. There was only one person in this world that didn’t sin. That was Jesus. You are not Jesus, you sin every day. There is not a day that goes by that you do not commit some type of sin. Get off your high horse.

      • Anonymous

Pray for the children?  Yeah, go ahead…especially for the gay ones who end up committing suicide because they live in such an intolerant society, thanks to the likes of you.

Your ignorance on this topic is sickening.

These denominations have married same gender couples in 7 US States and the District of Columbia:

The Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists
        The Episcopal Church
        Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
        Metropolitan Community Church
        Conservative Judaism
        Reform Judaism
        Religious Society of Friends (Quakers)
        Unitarian Universalist Church
        United Church of Christ

You are trying to persecute them.  You’ve got it backwards, as usual.

You lie  big time an you hate will only kill you from with in  .

    • Tedlick Badkey

      Your paranoia pleases me…

It’s silly, uneducated, and woefully out of touch, but it pleases me.

Maine has followed California’s lead in just about everything. Just a matter of time for this one….

        • Tedlick Badkey

But CA doesn’t have gay marriage… how can it possibly be the cause?

          • Anonymous

The subject of my original comment is a LGBT curriculum in schools. California requires it.

          • Tedlick Badkey

“The campaign to pass a law mandating a LGBT curriculum in schools will start next year….”
Why is it now that you make such a prediction?

          • Anonymous

Next logical step on the radical activist side of the gay agenda.

          • Tedlick Badkey

How can it be a “logical next step” when it’s happening in some states that have no gay marriage (such as CA), and not in such states as Iowa, that DO have gay marriage?
Fact is… it’s not a “logical next step” at all… you’re just pouting.

          • Anonymous

I guess you forgot that California had SSM and LOST it by a vote of the people. Different population and demographics. They have just adjusted the order of the steps to fit their state. Give them another year or two and they will force another vote in California on SSM. Or use the courts to force it down everyone’s throat.

Here in Maine the indoctrination-education of young people in the gay agenda has been going on for years under the radar, just not mandated by law. That got enough to finally vote for SSM.

But that is not enough to satisfy the radical side of the gay agenda. They are not satisfied with tolerance or legal rights. They want a large majority to not just show tolerance and non-discrimination but to accept the homosexual lifestyle. For the most radical elements even this is not enough. They want people to embrace and even promote the lifestyle. Only then will they feel “normal” and be able to accept and embrace themselves. And that is the most radical activists real problem. Accepting themselves as they are.

          • Tedlick Badkey

            Then they don’t have it.

You’ll also find such angst as yours about curriculum in other states without gay marriage… Look up “Ready, Set, Respect!” and where it’s being used in schools.
Investigate Montgomery County, Maryland (from 2004, long before this weeks win there).
            See this: http://www.twincities.com/ci_16451540

And on and on and on and on and on…

Another vote in CA? BWA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAA… Oh wow… research dude, RESEARCH! Prop 8 will die before SCOTUS… there will be no more votes. As for force, no one will force you to attend gay weddings. You really have nothing to fear.
Your puckering and pouting is SO cute!

          • Anonymous

It’s good that you agree with me and back up my points.

          • Tedlick Badkey

I didn’t back up a single one (well, maybe the one about the courts).

            Keep pouting… I’m loving it!

          • Anonymous

You also supplied a source for that indoctrination. And if you search on it like you suggested, you find it directly linked to LGBT activists and groups.

            Thank you!….

          • Tedlick Badkey

Happening WITHOUT MARRIAGE showing no “step” in any “agenda”… no matter what your paranoid mind comes up with.
Your attempt to tie such things to marriage has failed.

          • Anonymous

Not seeing the connection is quite delusional.

Then again, worrying about what I think is being paranoid.

          • Tedlick Badkey

Seeing a connection in states where there is no gay marriage marks you as paranoid as well as delusional.
            There is no connection.

You’ve not yet shown any either.

          • Tedlick Badkey

PS: I never said it wasn’t happening… sorry to bust your gloating.

I said it has no connection to gay marriage.

          • Anonymous

I guess I have to remind you again.

The subject of my post was about a LGBT curriculum in schools.
You first brought up SSM in this thread.
A distraction and a diversion of the subject.
Thank you for the supporting evidence for my original post.

          • Tedlick Badkey

The subject was that such things in schools was a “next step” after marriage… yet it happens where there is no gay marriage.
The article is ABOUT gay marriage and your point is of some “agenda” in which this is a “logical next step” after gay marriage.
Your original post tried to tie such things in schools to gay marriage… yet that’s something you cannot demonstrate.

          • Anonymous

            “Or use the courts”

You mean like what the US Constitution says we are supposed to do?

          • Anonymous

            Speaking of indoctrination …

          • Anonymous

Yes you are right but now tell the rest of the store  .They will not show sex act, all it will be is the HISTORY of the LGBT so kids will learn the facts not the lies

          • Anonymous

They learn carefully selected “facts”. They leave out such things as reduced life expectancy, rampant STDs and health problems, mental health problems, etc.
Not to mention all the historical people declared to be “gay” on scant evidence and supposition.

          • Tedlick Badkey

Reduced life expectancy!? You’re shilling the discredited work of Paul Cameron?

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Oh… my…

And STDs aren’t a result of being gay… they’re the result of being irresponsible, so yes, they will learn that.

            Wow… Amazing!

          • Anonymous

Check out studies, including the CDC, comparing the rates of STDs between heterosexual and homosexual populations.

            http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2251094/posts

            http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/pdf/ss/ss60e0606.pdf
This last one likes to lock up, darn government site.

          • Tedlick Badkey

Compare all you want… I have no STD… never have. I know no one who does.
It’s not being gay that causes it… it’s irresponsible behavior.

For example… there are 9 – 11 million gay citizens. Only somwhere in the neighborhood of ~600,000 have HIV/AIDS.
Showing that the overwhelming majority to not have HIV/AIDS.

Same statistics are found for other STDs as well.

            It’s not being gay… it’s being irresponsible.

          • Anonymous

CDC estimates 1,150,000 people infected with HIV/AIDS in the US. Looks like over 50% of the total cases are in the homosexual community which only comprises what, 5% of the US population.

You are right about it being related to irresponsible behavior. Seems like Gays are much more irresponsible than the general population.

          • Tedlick Badkey

            Thanks for supporting my statement.

          • Anonymous

Trickle, that is NOT what the CDC says, you got that from Free Republic.

          • Anonymous

Your source is “Free Republic”?  Then we KNOW you’re LYING.

          • Anonymous

Mental problems?  Because they are “torn” about being gay?  Or because of the stigma attached to it by self-righteous finger-pointers?

          • Anonymous

So you do not want the kids to learn the truth  ?

          • Anonymous

” They leave out such things as reduced life expectancy, rampant STDs and health problems, mental health problems, etc.”

Because THOSE ARE ALL ANTI-GAY LIES.

          • Anonymous

And those decisions are made at the local level. NOM retracted their whole “it will lead to it being taught in school if we don’t repeal this” in 2009 after the election and said they “were mistaken”.

    • Anonymous

November 6, 2012: The day lies like this stopped working ♥

  • Anonymous

It has to be troubling to gays that they had to keep their faces and ideas away from the pro marriage TV ads which featured straights exclusively.

I never bought the hate, but then I never bought that this was about equality either.  It is about financial benefits.  Someday maybe single people (both gay and straight) will get those too.

    • Anonymous

What other benefits have they   get  ?   Like they will not need a note so they can go to the hospital to see there other  . They can do the funeral arangements for there other an can not be bared from the funeral .

    • Child credits I get, though tax breaks (or penalties) for simply being married, truly doesn’t make much sense…though erasing double standards (whether the standards are good or not), is a good thing.

    • Anonymous

I love your hypocrisy… on the stories about the prostitution ring, that behavior is no big deal… but two people seeking to commit their lives to one another with civil marriage, that you must stand against.

As for marriage benefits for single people… you can keep your eyes closed, but that doesn’t mean you’re blind.

  • Margaret Rudolf

“Gay marriage” was approved only by those who have lost their moral compass. Unfortulately, this was the majority of the voters in Maine and other states. The rest of us will stand with The Church and will not recognize anything other than traditional marriage. We will have to work harder to undo the damage that will be done in the government schools so that our children will grow up with a basic sense of right and wrong. It was easier when I was growing up. Right and legal were the same thing. That ended with Roe v Wade, when it became legal, however wrong, to murder an unborn child. Now, there are groups bent on turning America into Sodom and Gommorrah, one state at a time. Pray for them that they might be converted.

    • Anonymous

There is no such thing as traditional   marriage do a search an you will see that  .  You will see that kids know more about gays  than you think . One person has all ready found out when he ask  his kids  .

    • Anonymous

Anyone who cares about their children will home school them.

      • Tedlick Badkey

That’s been true since they started telling kids we’re a democracy.

    • Anonymous

I’m a very moral person, I’m a married woman. You don’t have to believe in god to be moral. I would’nt want your religion taught, to my child if I had one. Public school, is for everyone, if you want to teach your child, that it’s alright to lie as long as it’s for the lord, do it at home. I would want my child taught that lying is wrong all the time, and not very moral.

      • Anonymous

If they teach there kids to hate . Hate leads to bulling  an then if that does not work then they will kill them an they will end up in prison

      •  You don’t want my religion taught to your child and I don’t want the gay lifestyle taught to my child.  If they can’t teach religion in the school because SOME might be offended then don’t teach a lifestyle choice to SOME who might be offended.  Keep your lifestyle opinions to yourself and I’ll keep my religious opinions to myself.  Stalemate!!!

    • Anonymous

      Which church is “The Church”?

There is no such thing as traditional  marriage  .

sodom and gomorrah?  if  all you got out of that story was “gay is bad” then you sorely missed the point.   you’re not the first to misunderstand, so do me a favor:  re-read it, really think about it, and tell me what you think the moral of that story is.

      • Anonymous

also tell him to take off his blinders to .

Anti-gays want to HURT loving, committed same gender American couples.  THAT’S IMMORAL.

    • Anonymous

“Right” was legal only if declared as such.  Christians (and Jews) believe the Ten Commandments are “right” but only a few are legal.

Oh, and which church?  If it’s The Church I suppose you mean Catholic.  I suppose it could be conservative Protestant like Baptist but that (un)holy alliance is shaky and will soon break up a before.

    • Anonymous

Margaret, Maine did not vote to legalize rape, so we surely aren’t turning into Sodom and Gommorrah.

Feel free to live your life in judgmental distain for people in your community you deem “unworthy”. It says more about your dismal view of the world around you than it does of us.

Meanwhile, I will feel free to live my life married to my soul mate, thanks to the wonderful state of Maine!!

Guess it is easy to fool some peopole. I wonder how many scriptures they will use in their ceremonies, since they say God has nothing to do with this.

    • Tedlick Badkey

      None… not needed.

The civil contract of marriage requires no mythology.

      • Anonymous

and yet they will use scripture, I have no doubt.

        • Tedlick Badkey

I will use the one true gospel… The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (May His Starch be Upon Thee, RAmen).

        • Anonymous

Some will, of course.  In churches that decide to perform same sex ceremonies.

        • Anonymous

You realize there are many religious faiths, right? I don’t see Jews, Muslims, or Hindu using passages from the New Testament in their ceremonies…

Why don’t you ask the sources directly, bruce?  These denominations have married same gender couples in 7 US States and the District of Columbia:

The Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists
      The Episcopal Church
      Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
      Metropolitan Community Church
      Conservative Judaism
      Reform Judaism
      Religious Society of Friends (Quakers)
      Unitarian Universalist Church
      United Church of Christ

Last year, The Presbyterian Church (USA) voted to accept LGBT ministers, and they expect to marry same gender couples next year. The Association of Unity Churches International is discussing same gender marriage.  In some parts of the U.S., Methodist pastors have been marrying same-sex couples or conducting blessing ceremonies for same-sex unions for years with little fanfare and no backlash from the denomination. Calls to overturn the rule have become increasingly vocal in recent weeks, ratcheting up the pressure for the Methodist church to join other mainline Protestant denominations that have become more accepting of openly gay leaders.

These denominations all agree with modern Biblical scholars, who have proven the Bible was intentionally mistranslated relatively recently to provide “Biblical cover” for rising levels of homophobia.

      • Anonymous

They know what the worod says. You can find just as many say they are changing or mistranslating it to bow to to sin. Though anyone that does not agree with you is homophibic, so no matter what anyone says contrary to your opinion is homophobic.
They are accountable to their own actions and will have to stand in judgement of those decisions as well as everyone else including those that voted for same sex marriage. So many talk about what Jesus says, read his red lettered edition in Mark. By the away lal those chruches you posted read from the exact same word, including the Methodist. We also know what happened in the Episcopal Church, on their split, we also know some of the split in some of the UCC, so you can say mainline Protesetant Denominations, but their are a lot of Protestant Denominations that still believe marriage is between a man and a women. Well at least Jesus says it in my Bible.
Why do not you check with churches that don’t change their doctrine to suit liberal needs.

        • Anonymous

Point granted that there have been schisms in the cited denominations over these and other issues.  Those congregations and members that remain are and will be welcoming to gays and gay marriages.

Oh, and conservative Christians are often noted for translations with “spin” or even mis-translations.

    • God Bless you sir

Romans 12: 9-18 is a wonderful passage, that would apply nicely to a Christian marriage ceremony, same-sex or not.
