CONCORD, N.H. — Some snow and mixed precipitation are expected in parts of New Hampshire and Maine as a nor’easter heads up the East Coast.

The storm was expected to arrive late Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory from early evening through Thursday morning for most of New Hampshire and western Maine. Two to 4 inches of snow could arrive in central and western New Hampshire, accompanied by high winds.

High temperatures Wednesday were expected to range through the 30s to near 40 degrees.

Although the storm is expected to be weaker than superstorm Sandy, utilities cautioned customers to be prepared for the possibility of power outages.

Unitil said it was planning to increase staffing during the overnight hours in response to the storm. It also has been in contact with other utilities in the region to check on the availability of crews as they are redistributed from regions completing their restoration effort from Sandy.
