LINCOLNVILLE, Maine — Residents approved a proposal to expand the town office Tuesday by an 806-613 vote.
The referendum gives selectmen approval to take $470,000 from a capital investment reserve account and borrow $220,000 in general obligation bonds to pay for adding a 2,187-square-foot addition to the town office.
Town Administrator David Kinney has said bid packages will be sent out and a contractor selected this winter, with construction to start in the early spring. The renovations and new addition would be completed by next fall.
The project will add $7.73 in taxes annually for a property assessed at $200,000.
Tuesday was the third time residents have voted on an addition or new town office.
