EAGLE LAKE AND BRANDENBURG, KY. – Mary Louise Mikols now and forever is embraced by our merciful Father in heaven. She passed away peacefully Oct. 20, 2012, surrounded by her loving family in Kentucky, her second home. Born Sept. 7, 1927, she was the daughter of Francis and Clara Popplewell.
Mary Louise was wed in 1949 to Mitchell Anthony Mikols, who predeceased her. Mary served in the Nurse Cadet Corps from 1945 to 1948. She attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital of Nursing in 1948. A registered nurse and devoted Catholic, she was a ready and willing friend to all she met. She served as a nurse in many areas including the Veterans Administration hospitals, Indian Health Service and in psychiatric medicine. She continued to be active in the nursing field as a hospice nurse with Hospice of Aroostook County. She celebrated and cherished life just as she did those she loved.
Mary Louise is survived by her six children, Elizabeth, Cynthia, Mitchell, Monica, Judith and Barbara; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her family and all those who knew her will miss her dearly.
A Mass of Christian burial will held in early summer 2013. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to Hospice of Aroostook County and/or Ladies of Saint Anne, Eagle Lake. Funeral arrangements are being made with Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
