HAMPDEN – Arlene V. Mayo, 82, passed away peacefully Nov. 4, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. Arlene was born Jan. 8, 1930, in Dover-Foxcroft, to the late William and Margaret (Dunn) Wilson.
Arlene was proud to say she was part of the Bangor-Brewer Bowling Lanes family for the last 50 years, and of that she worked there for 24 of them, often competing with Charles Milan for many of those years.
Arlene is survived by her daughter, Peggie Pye of Bangor; one granddaughter, Robin (Dishaw) Chaffee and husband, Scott, of Glenburn; two wonderful great-grandchildren, Kristina and Christopher Chaffee; one brother, William Wilson II and wife, Donna, of Fort Atkinson, Wis.; and special friends, Kay and Gene Boynton of Brewer, Del and Judy Gasper of Ellsworth, Jim and Joanne Dubey of Hampden, and Winnie Bryant of Hampden. Arlene was predeceased by her husband, Gene; son-in-law, Roger; brother, Rosco Wilson; and sister, Dorothy McLaughlin. A special thanks to Dr. Thomas Rajan and the staff at Eastern Maine Medical Center’s Intensive Care Unit for their wonderful and compassionate care during Arlene’s illness.
In keeping with Arlene’s wishes, services will be private. Interment will be beside her husband at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. All are welcome to a memorial reception 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Arlene’s home, 25 Patterson St., Hampden.
