Not elderly at 74!  Please say older person–
Some are “elderly” acting at 50.

What is wrong with the word elderly? It applies here and it is not insulting.
I’m elderly and fit, doesn’t bother me.

Doesn’t bother me, either.  It’s a hell of a lot better than “senior citizen”, which is just plain awful.  I’ll be 73 soon and would rather be called old, because that’s what I am – old.

I would get asked at stores if i was a senior  citizen an it never bothered me at all in fact i liked it .

And the discounts too, I’ll bet!  :)

OK, I forgot about that, and I’ll make an exception for being a “senior citizen” in a store because it usually means I’m going to get a discount.

            im glad of that

My 77 yr old friend says there is no such thing as “the golden years”. I’m 57 and already starting to believe him! Old as ya feel. I remember my great grandfather, pipe in mouth, cutting stove wood at 91! Just don’t say “Oh, you’re just x number years young’. Patronizing and corny.

My condolences to Ms. Ingalls family and friends.

Sympathies to the kids and bus driver. That must have been an awful thing to witness and endure. Hope everybody makes a full and quick recovery.

I agree. Ms. Ingalls family didn’t have a chance to say goodbye, but from a medical emergency or the crash, most of us would rather go quickly. Still a shock for them all.

what’s with the bus accidents lately…its kind of hard to miss a yellow behemoth

Its the school’s fault! Ask Big Paulie.  He’ll tell you that the teacher’s association is the cause of this.
Seriously, as a fill in driver once in a while, my heart goes out to the kids, both drivers and their families.  It does show, at least in this case, that even without seat-belts, schools buses are pretty safe for the students, as long as they are seated.
