BANGOR, Maine — Power has been restored to most of the 1,200 homes and businesses in the city that lost it Sunday morning.
As of 2:30 p.m. Sunday, a “handful” of outages, including about 30 customers on Division Street, 10 on French Street and eight on Garland Street remained, according to Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. spokeswoman Susan Faloon.
“The big outages are taken care of,” Faloon said.
The morning outage was caused by a faulty cable at a substation on Park Street, she said. Crews replaced the cable and were continuing to restore service to the last few remaining customers Sunday afternoon.
The outage affected Broadway, Center, Congress, Exchange and surrounding streets, according to a Bangor Hydro press release.
Correction: An earlier version of this story contained an error. Bangor Hydro spokeswoman Susan Faloon said Sunday morning, not Monday morning, that crews are working to try to identify what caused the outage.
