MEXICO, Maine — A local man was arrested Thursday in connection with a series of burglaries in July.

Darryl P. Streeper, 24, faces two burglary charges, one theft charge, and two counts of failure to pay fines. On Friday evening, he was still in custody at the Oxford County Jail in Paris. His bail is set at $500 cash.

He was arrested Thursday night by officer Daniel Carrier of the Mexico Police Department.

An affidavit by Mexico police officer Roy Hodsdon said Streeper broke into two homes on July 16 and 20 on Roxbury Road and Harlow Hill Road, stealing jewelry and a jewelry box. An informant told police that Streeper was bragging to people about committing a burglary with an accomplice.

It is believed Streeper was the lookout in one of the burglaries and entered the house in the other. He was out on bail during the time of the burglaries, and could face bail violation charges as well, the affidavit said. Police were told Streeper was out of the state for some time, but recently returned.

Streeper’s arraignment is set for Jan. 8 in 11th District Court.
