I am glad to see that this crook is being held accountable. White collar criminals are just as bad as any other criminal. He is not better because he was a stockbroker and wore a suit to work. What he did was absolutely awful and for once someone like him is not getting away with it.

The trouble is he will never live long enough to pay restitution. The couple will never see the money they are owed. Very sad case.

I bet they recover and get more for punitive damages. This slime ball has no remorse because he continues to lie in court that he doesn’t know anything about family finances. He should also be charged with perjury and we all know his wife’s name is the only one on the house because he is a crook and thought that would save him. Guess what when you are married marital property is both of yours and she and he will have to sell their house worth $300,000. I hope the victims now sue him in civil court and not only re-coop their money but get an award for punitive damages. I hope this crook and his family go down broke and if it is  a judgement against them they will never get a line of credit anywhere so no more houses, cars and credit cards for them.  His son should also for over some money because it is his turn to help out… LOSERS …

He is a slime ball and yes they will because anything in his wife’s name is marital property and the house must be sold to pay the debt. He is still lying by telling the court he doesn’t know anything about the family finances. They should charge him with perjury to boot…. Best of luck to the crime victims and I hope they get all of that and more for punitive damages.

“He also testified that he did not know the amount of his mortgage payments, details about various insurance policies or how much money his wife earns in salary.”
And he was a so called money-man?? I wouldn’t trust this guy with my lunch money!

  • Just a classic case of “Oh give me money, and I’ll double it.” They knew this guy for over 10  years and he screwed them over. . that just shows you cant trust ANYBODY with your own money. The economy is so bad now that we just might have to resort to burying cash in the back yard just like they did in the revolutionary war. Better than getting robbed blind by investors or banks.

This is a bummer, but what would you do if somebody offered you an opportunity to invest in a “project” with Carmen Electra?  Nobody watches your money like you!

Philbrook apologized to the couple before he was sentenced, but he insisted that he thought they understood that the investment carried a risk…..This pathetic loser, crook, thief still hasn’t learned a thing.  You can add LIAR to this long list too.  How can you live with yourself Philbrook?

  • Since when is having cable & internet “a luxury”?  And owning a vehicle is a necessity, not a luxury.  And here’s something the judge obviously doesn’t know – when a person receives social security and they go to prison and/or jail,  their social security gets shut off by the SSA.  So now these people will have to wait 3 years before they can start getting any money instead of the 9 months that the attorney was pushing for.  And as a footnote, it’s going to cost the taxpayers from the State o’ME a boatload of money to keep him incarcerated. His medical issues are quite staggering. He’s had a stroke, multiple heart attacks and has type 1 diabetes….

Not the only guy who had a stoke.  Know plenty of people who had strokes and continue their normal way of living.  He’s using that as an excuse to have it easy while in jail..  As for repayment let them get it from his wife  holdings

  • They should have known better.

And yet a big campaign bundler, like Jon Corzine, steals $1.6-BILLION and he’s still walking around free.  The perks of being a party official.

3 years? That’s all? If he was a 25 or 30 year old he would get triple that time if not more for the same exact crime. The system here in Maine is a total joke. And before any of you get mad and comment that he is an old man…so what. He was old enough to do the crime then he is old enough to do the time. (Just my opinion)
