CHARLESTON, Maine — Three youths being held at Mountain View Youth Development Facility were taken to a local hospital Tuesday after they became ill.
After being checked by hospital staff, they were returned to the state-run correctional facility, Maine Department of Corrections spokeswoman Judy Plummer said Wednesday night.
The three were seen by the on duty nurse, who sent them by ambulance to a nearby hospital “to make sure they received the care they needed,” Plummer said. Information about the nature of the trio’s illnesses was not immediately available but Plummer did say that the three were taken back to the facility within a matter of hours.
Located on the grounds of the Charleston Correctional Facility, Mountain View houses up to 133 detained male and female juveniles from 11 to 21 years of age as well as committed males in the same age group, according to the facility’s website.
