Beatrice M. Ritchie

NEWPORT – Beatrice M. Ritchie, 85, died Oct. 29, 2012 at Woodlawn Nursing Center, Skowhegan, after a long illness. She was born Oct. 1, 1927, in Waterville, the daughter of Clayton and Cora (Brayall) Morse.

“Bea” was married to Sidney A. Ritchie Sr. who predeceased her in December of 1986. She was employed in local shoe shops and was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning. She loved to hunt and fish. She loved going “up country,” spending time with her special friends and always enjoyed country music. She was a member of Nokomis Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.

“Bea” is survived by her son, Sidney A. Richey Jr. of St Albans; her daughter, Evelyn E. Barker of Orange City, Fla.; her friend and companion, Reginald Dubois; five grandchildren, Shannon, Craig, Justin, Kevin and Kim; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She will be remembered and missed by her caregiver, Sally Clark of St. Albans.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport, with Pastor Brian Woodbury officiating.
