Fine meal in Rockland to support two causes

ROCKLAND, Maine — In Good Company and Terra Optima Farm invite the public to reserve a seat for an evening of fine dining in support of two good causes at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at In Good Company restaurant, 415 Main St.

Award-winning chef Melody Wolfertz will cook a four-course, farm-to-table meal. The cost is $50 and does not include wine, tax and tip. The restaurant will be closed to general seating and the normal menu for the evening.

Locally sourced ingredients for the meal will be donated by Terra Optima Farm Market of Thomaston and Hatchet Cove Farm of Warren. The meal also will offer some items grown by Teen Ag crews.

Proceeds from the evening will go to support Teen Ag at Aldermere Farm in Rockport and the Financial Aid Fund of Hatchet Cove Farm CSA in Warren. Seating is limited and on a first-come basis. To make a reservation, call 593-9110.

Teen Ag is a social entrepreneurial program that teaches progressive farming methods to teens ages 14 to 19. It provides healthy, locally sourced agricultural products to local food pantries and the local school system. The Financial Aid Fund at Hatchet Cove Farm in Warren helps midcoast families in need afford the fresh, healthy food of the community-supported agriculture program. Hatchet Cove Farm produces organic vegetables for more than 200 families and, in 2012, the Financial Aid Fund helped more than 30 families afford CSA shares with grants ranging from $40 to $350.
