TRURO, Mass., and TOPSFIELD – Timothy John Khiel was born April 28, 1966, in Newfoundland, and passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at a Boston hospital after a long and brave battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
He was predeceased by his brother, Mark Edward Khiel; and an infant sister he never knew, Sheila Ann Khiel. He is survived by his parents, Gerald and Louise Khiel; his brother, Jerry Khiel and sister-in-law, Diane, of Orono; nieces, Holly and Amy Khiel, who live in southern Maine and Vermont respectively; and his brother Mark’s daughter and granddaughter, Michelle and Riley, of southern Maine. Additionally, he is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
In the final days of his life, Timmy was surrounded by his mom and dad, brother and sister-in-law, and his nieces. They told stories and provided comfort to Tim while he slept in his hospital room. When Tim’s sister-in-law asked Gerald, Tim’s father, “Do you believe in heaven?” Gerald replied, “If anyone is going to heaven, it will be Tim.” At that very moment, Tim took his last, peaceful breath and then passed away.
