BANGOR – Robert E. “Bob” Hoke Jr. passed away Oct. 26, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 29, 1948, in York, Pa.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert E. and Cecilia Mulligan Hoke. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Colleen (Quigley) Hoke; his sons, Benjamin Hoke of New York, Samuel Hoke and Ethan Hoke, both of Bangor; his sister, Dianna (Hoke) Falvey of York, Pa.; and his nieces and nephews.
After service to his country in the U.S. Army and completing two tours in Vietnam, Bob went on to graduate with a criminal justice degree from York College of Pennsylvania. He retired after a distinguished career of 27 years as a supervisory deputy United States marshal, and went on to teach at Beal College, Bangor, in the Criminal Justice program. When he wasn’t spending time with his family, Bob was an avid reader and loved playing golf. Bob’s wife will remember him as a loving, caring husband; his sons consider their dad their hero; and his sister and nieces and nephews will cherish their memories of their times with their special uncle.
A viewing will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor.
