FREEDOM, Maine — A house trailer was severely damaged Sunday afternoon by a fire.

There were no injuries, according to Freedom Fire Chief James Waterman.

Homeowner James Jeranka was working outside the Mitchell Road trailer when he spotted the trailer on fire, the chief noted. The fire was called in to the department shortly after noon.

Crews from Freedom, Palermo, Albion, Unity, Thorndike and Montville responded to the fire, Waterman said. Crews remained at the scene until shortly before 4 p.m.

An investigator from the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to try to determine the cause, the chief said.

Waterman said the house trailer is about 14 feet by 70 feet. He said the owner will not be able to live there for at least awhile because of the extent of the damage, the chief said.
