The grandmother lived on  Brighton Avenue in OOB and the mother lived on  Brighton Avenue in Portland????  Coincidence or error?

    perscription drugs I bet.

So you don’t care about the fact that you know nothing about this situation? You’ll still just accuse based on hunches?

      • jdtex

I doubt if he killed her for her AARP card.

        • Anonymous

It doesn’t matter. You don’t know anything about the situation beyond what’s here and what’s public. Don’t make assumptions.

          • Anonymous

We can assume the young fellow was another spoiled brat and was trying to get his way over something from Gram.  It’s a pretty pathetic loser that kills his Grandmother.

      • Anonymous

assumptions are what the police use to follow up on a case. which brings out the facts..

    Extremely sad here.

It seems that many of the murders committed now involve family members. Family values…what a society that we now live in.

    • Anonymous

The murderers of family members are typically 20 year old-somethings, that are still living at home with their mommies and or daddies.  When a teenager graduates high school, out of mommie and /or daddies house they should go. And grow up.

You are right. And the majority of time the family, neighbors and acquaintences can see trouble coming, yet do little or nothing to prevent catastrophy. Why? If you think someone…anyone… will kill you, you should do something about it. Take the firearms and sharp instruments away, call the police or the mental health hotline for help. Is that so difficult even if it involves a relative? Like living with a wolverine… you have to be smarter and faster. Gawd.

Unfortunately, potential murderers can’t be confined or charged with anything until the crime is committed. The victims of these loony-tunes are always the ones who suffer and or die. Defense lawyers are quite skilled at getting these malcontents off with a short sentence. However, that’s what defense attorneys do. A skilled defense attorney is just what people need when someone is charged with a crime they didn’t commit.
Some young people (not  referring to this case) who have been mentally, emotionally and physically abused by those who are supposed to love and protect them finally murder that family member. They snap and take  the law into their own hands and mete out their own kind of justice.  All homicides have their own circumstances to consider.

    Welcome to Maine:

About 1994ish,  s Somerset County young  female  gave her grandmother  over 100 whacks with a knife, That young person was given 3 years in jail and set  free.

This OOB crime was one horrible crime alright. Look for the insane plea, Look for it to be successful,Look for the criminal to be locked up for a couple of years, Look for the criminal to be deemed harmless and set free to a halfway house.

    • jerrymyx

Notice the insanity  in some of the comments!  there so positive!!!!   NOT

      • Anonymous

You must be new to Maine. The insanity plea works in Maine.

For one reason: to prosecute a murder in Maine, it costs the State over $1,000,000.00 court costs. So Maine courts prefer to plea bargain down a murder charge in any way possible  to save spending State money.

I see no insanity in these  comments. Maine is very lax on punishment of sever crimes. Two men who killed their infant children get off with just 6 years in jail, disgusting. And who says we have to post in a positive way? You? Funny.

Remember it well-was on duty that night.  I think of that poor great-aunt of hers every time I drive by the home.  Keep in mind, though, that the short sentence in this case had a lot to do w/her age (15 years old).

    • Anonymous

That is not what she served. She served a full juvenile sentence till age 21. The full measure of the law.

We need to go back to the times when dangerous individuals could be institutionalized before they went on killing sprees.  I’m not saying let’s bring back lobotomy or the inhumane conditions that led to the closure of mental hospitals across this country. But we need some balance and what the politicians like to call a “common sense approach” to some very scary people who live among us.

Why are you putting her address on here.  I think that is totally wrong for you to do

    • Rocky4

The BDN TRIED to put her address on here & got it wrong. I just corrected is all. What the
hell is the big deal? It is public information, on google, white pages & a dozen other
outlets. They publish addresses every day. What ails you?

      • Anonymous

Nothing ails me, i did not even flag it.  I just find it extremely odd that you had to post it, come on he killed his grandmother, no need to post address.

      • Anonymous

Oh forgot, that is the address that was given to Bangor daily

I live in OOB and there has been too many family killings here.  It makes one wonder why?

  • Anonymous

I can’t imagine being the woman getting the call that my mother just died in a fire…..then the next day getting the call that it was my son that killed her…Oh my heart goes out to her.

  • Anonymous

This is the second murder within the course of a week where a young man murdered older family members. It’s truly sad.
