Gail K. Beckwith

CALAIS – Gail Kay Beckwith, 92, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, in Calais. Gail was born June 6, 1920, in Juneau, Alaska, daughter of the late Valjean and Gladys (Tripp) Austin.

After graduating from Lincoln Union High School, Lincoln, Calif., class of 1938, she furthered her education at College of the Pacific, Stockton, Calif.; Sacramento (Calif.) Junior College; University of Oregon, Eugene, Ore.; and Western School of Business, Sacramento, Calif. Gail retired from her civil service position at McClellan Air Force Base, Sacramento, Calif. She was a member of Church of the Living Stone, Baileyville, and enjoyed gardening and cooking.

In addition to her parents, Gail was predeceased by her first husband, Raymond Hazelwood; second husband, Frederick Breckinridge; and third husband, Darrell Beckwith. Surviving are her son, Michael Breckinridge and wife, Cathy, of Calais; and three grandchildren, Raquel Altuglu and husband, Murat, of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Daniela Tumipamba and husband, Juan Pablo, of Quito, Ecuador, and Rebecca Stewart and husband, Oraine, of Stamford, Conn.

A celebration of Gail’s life will be held 2 p.m. Nov. 3 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Burial will be after at Calais Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.maysfuneralhome.com.
