PORTLAND, Maine — The National Weather Service says Maine and New Hampshire are expected to be spared the brunt of the big storm that’s being dubbed “Frankenstorm” because its arrival will coincide with Halloween.

Meteorologist Tom Hawley from the weather service office in Gray said Thursday that the latest track from national forecasters has Hurricane Sandy making landfall Tuesday morning in New Jersey.

Some of the earlier computer models had it coming into Maine and New Hampshire.

Hawley says Maine will still get plenty of rain and some wind, even if the eye of the storm passes far to the south. He also says there’s still a bit of uncertainty about the exact path.
