CANTON, Maine — An 82-year-old woman found lying on the ground Monday night more than 12 hours after she was last seen was listed in critical but stable condition at a Lewiston hospital, the Maine Warden Service said Tuesday.
Cpl. John MacDonald of the Maine Warden Service reported that Florence Jordan of 449 Turner St. was transported from Rumford Hospital to Central Maine Medical Center. A nursing supervisor there said Tuesday that no other information on her condition was available.
Jordan was found by Warden Norman Lewis and his dog Clyde at about 9 p.m. Monday near woods about 50 yards behind her barn. The Maine Warden Service assisted the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police in the search.
MacDonald said Jordan appeared to have suffered from a medical condition and was hypothermic when she was found.
Jordan was last seen by neighbors at about 7 a.m. Monday on her way to pick up her morning newspaper at the mailbox, but was nowhere to be found when her son arrived in the evening to check on her.
