EASTON — Kylee Carter’s goal on an assist from Cassie Buck 16 minutes into the second half was the go-ahead goal that lifted the No. 2 Easton Bears to a 3-1 schoolgirl soccer victory over the No. 7 Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners during an Eastern Maine Class D quarterfinal Tuesday.

Taylor Brown added an insurance goal with 8 minutes left by converting on the rebound of a shot by teammate Carla Halvorson.

That duo also accounted for the lone first-half goal of the match, with Halvorson scoring on an assist from Brown.

Deer Isle-Stonington’s Allison Cormier tied the match 13 minutes into the 2nd half.

Easton goalie Hannah Ferris made six saves on 10 shots. DI-S goalie Allyson Eaton made 18 saves on 35 shots.

Easton, now 11-2-2, advanced to a Friday semifinal against top-ranked and County rival Washburn. The Mariners finished at 6-8-2.
